How long you have to file a personal injury claim after a crash, in your state, with the statute it comes from and the date it was last checked.

Deadline to file an injury claim

2 years

Statute

Tex. Civ. Prac. & Rem. Code § 16.003

When the clock starts

The day the cause of action accrues, which for a crash injury is normally the day of the crash. For a death, the statute runs two years from the date of death rather than the crash.

Watch out for

A claim against a city, county or state body is governed by separate notice rules with far shorter windows, and some cities require notice within months. Check before you rely on the two years.
